What happens if there is no Sigfox coverage?
Good Sigfox coverage is required for the system to work. If there is no connectivity, the transmitted data will not be received, and the data will be lost. However, you can easily create coverage by installing a Sigfox Gateway.
-
Where can I check the Sigfox coverage at my location?
You can check the estimated Sigfox coverage at your location using coverage.sigfox.cz or coverage.iotdk.dk/en
We always recommend to set up a Sigfox Gateway on-site unless you have excellent Sigfox coverage at your location.
-
How is the security of the Sigfox network?
Security is highly important for Sigfox. See the video below to learn more:
You can find more videos and a white paper at the Sigfox website.
-
Do the transmitters store the data?
No, the transmitters do not store any data. After the temperature has been measured, the reading is immediately transmitted using Sigfox. Therefore, if you are in an area with limited or no Sigfox coverage, the reading might not be received. However, you can easily create coverage by installing a Sigfox Gateway ā and all the readings will be received and stored in the cloud.
-
Do I need to configure the gateway before use?
Yes, in most cases.
If you are using a SIM-card to connect the Sigfox Gateway to the Internet, please follow this guide.
If you are using an Ethernet-cable to connect the Sigfox Gateway to the Internet, please see section “5.3.1. Ethernet connectivity” in the gateway’s Product Manual.
We can pre-configure the gateway to work with your SIM card, so you don’t need to configure the gateway. We also sell the gateway with a SIM card subscription, so it comes fully configured and ready for use. -
Can I get the Sigfox Gateway delivered as plug-and-play?
Yes! We can either pre-setup the gateway to work with your own SIM card – or deliver it with an active SIM card so everything works out of the box.
-
Is it mandatory to use a Sigfox Gateway to use Maturix?
This depends on the global Sigfox coverage. If the coverage at your job site is insufficient, you must install a Sigfox Gateway to receive data from the Maturix transmitters.
Good Sigfox coverage is required for the Maturix system to work! The Sigfox Gateway creates coverage where you need it. -
What is the range of the Sigfox Gateway?
The maximum signal range between gateway and transmitters is up to 3 km, depending on the conditions. Learn more here…
-
Does the Sigfox Gateway require power?
Yes. The Sigfox Gateway requires a consistent 24/7 power source.
Contact us if you have a site without constant power. -
What happens if the Internet is down?
During the outage period, the Sigfox Gateway will not be able to transfer the data to the cloud. In the meantime, the gateway will temporarily store the data until the connection is working again.
-
Can the Sigfox Gateway be deployed in my country?
You can use the Sigfox Gateway in more than 80 countries around the world. See the full list of supported countries here…
In some countries, installing the gateway is only allowed under specific conditions. -
How much data will a SIM-card use?
Around 250 MB/month on average. We recommend using a 1 GB data SIM card.
-
How do I activate the included SIM card?
Contact [email protected]. Prepare the SIM card number or gateway serial number, as this will make it easier to find and activate the SIM card.
